Description

pThis is the history of a European organisation established in 1971 to represent the nursing profession and its interests to the European Institutions. EFN was established at the moment when the nursing education and free movement Directives were being drafted by the European Commission.pbrpWritten in the context of its 40 years celebration, this book aims at tracing the history of the European Federation of Nurses Associations EFN, previously known as Standing Committee of Nurses of the European Union PCN, from the sixties up till our governance today, 2011, building the capacity for the future nurses voice within the EU and Europe, mainly focusing on EFNPCN political achievements up till today, and explaining how we did it and why we did it.pbrpIn putting all the evidence together, we have interviewed some EFN members who played a significant role in developing the EFNPCN, as well as some external EU stakeholders, who are working closely with the EFN and who are strong advocacy voices at EU level, by asking them how they perceive EFN operating and lobbying, and how they see the nursing profession developments moving into the future.p
