Description

The role of corporations in criminal justice is expanding, both in a purely business context and beyond. Corporations may be suspected or accused of criminal or quasi-criminal wrongdoing; they may be required to produce information and evidence in furtherance of a criminal case, or be compelled to send a witness to trial; they may be the victim of crimes; and they may perform or assist with criminal investigations. This issue addresses these distinct roles of corporations in modern criminal justice, with a particular focus on the framework for prosecuting corporations, on double jeopardy protections, on internal investigations and compliance programs. This volume brings together major contributions to the 5th AIDP Symposium for Young Penalists Freiburg, 22nd-23rd June 2018, organised by the AIDP Young Penalists Committee in collaboration with the German AIDP national group and the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law.
