Description

One of Audiovisual eureka39;s primary tasks is to help European professionals to become better acquainted with the continent39;s audiovisual markets. The present publication should make an important contribution to this effort as regards Central and Eastern European countries. The aim was not to give an exhaustive review. On a more modest scale, with Karol Jakubowicz, we have first sought to provide an individual insight into the situation in each country. The audiovisual sector in Eastern Europe is still in the midst of upheavals and the situation is changing rapidly. In these conditions, circumstantial information is soon out of date, so we decided against a totally transversal approach. We also saw the need to take stock, together with Pierre Jeanray, of copyright legislation in these countries. This is a sensitive legal issue which, on account of its political and economic implications, is directly relevant to certain aspects of the debate on the future of the audiovisual sector in Europe.
